Traditionally, painting is the illusion of depth on a
flat surface. My work shatters this illusion by
making depth physical. Drawing on the structural
memory of bird feathers and the weightlessness
of down, I create topographies of emotion. This is
not merely a craft; it is the preservation of breath
and movement within a frozen, tactile moment.

A QUILL INSTEAD OF A BRUSH, NATURE INSTEAD OF PAINT
A feather is the memory of
flight. Down is the warmth of
life. I do not paint pictures; I
restore the material to its
natural element. In my works,
the 2D space of the canvas
dissolves, giving way to
sculptural relief where light
becomes a co-creator and
shadow a tool.

For many years, I have been creating 3D
compositions using naturally colored bird
feathers and down. I use only discarded
materials—essentially waste. Natural
materials reflect the fragile beauty of nature
through their inherent colors; a bird’s
plumage serves as camouflage in the wild,
helping to recreate its natural habitat. Each
feather acts like a brushstroke. Nature itself
is my co-creator. The feathers are treated
with a special compound, allowing them to
retain their qualities over time. In the skilled
hands of a master, waste materials are
transformed into unique works of art.
